VanderGhinste Roodbruin

VanderGhinste Red Brown | 25 cl | 5.5%

VanderGhinste Rood Bruin is a South-West Flemish red-brown mixed fermentation beer that is typical of this region. Barley malt, wheat, caramel malt, hops and water are used as basic ingredients for the VanderGhinste Rood Bruin. This makes a top-fermented beer. By blending this beer with beer of spontaneous fermentation, aged at least 18 months, matured in oak barrels (= foeders), this specific South-West Flemish red-brown beer is obtained. The typical taste is characterized by a balanced balance of the fruitiness of the top fermentation with the soft sourness of the spontaneous fermentation beer and has a refreshing and pronounced thirst-quenching aftertaste.

The beer is unmistakably popular with beer lovers. At the World Beer Awards 2015, VanderGhinste Rood Bruin is voted World's Best Dark Beer!

-----------

Originally called "Ouden Tripel", this ancient beer has found a new élan as a regional specialty under its current name: "VanderGhinste Red Brown". The main ingredients of  Vanderghinste Red Brown are malted barley, wheat, hops, water, and caramelized malts. These are used to brew a top-fermented beer. Blending this beer with lambic beer aged in oak barrels for 18 months, results in this specific West Flanders Red-brown beer. Its typical flavor is characterized by a well-balanced, hardly noticeable sourness. This first flavor impression is soon followed by a second pleasant discovery: a slight bitterness followed by a hint of sweetness.

At the World Beer Awards 2015 VanderGhinste Red Brown is elected World's Best Dark Beer!
